> ## What is a PBS account?
> 
> PBS Account is a login system that allows you to maintain a single identity across PBS products. When you create a PBS Account, your login and password moves between [each product](https://docs.pbs.org/) to which you've requested access.

> This section shows you how to create a PBS account if you do not currently have one, and how to navigate your account information once you have logged in.

> ## How to create a PBS account
> 
> - Go to the product URL and click **Login**.
>   - The product URL is the link to the product console. View a list of available consoles on the right side of the [docs.pbs.org homepage](https://docs.pbs.org/) under *PBS Digital Consoles*.
> - Click **Create an account **(Figure 1).
>

> - In the textboxes provided, type your** first name**,** last name**, **email address**, and **password** (Figure 2.1). Your password must contain at least eight (8) characters, with a combination of letters and numbers.
> - Click **Create an Account** (Figure 2.2).

> - You are redirected to a confirmation screen indicating that your login is successful (Figure 3). After a few seconds you are automatically redirected to the console homepage.

> - You are logged in and your name displays in the upper right side of the page.

> ## How to sign in
> 
> If you already have a PBS Account, follow the instructions below to sign in using your PBS Account.
> 
> - Go to the console dashboard and click the **login button or link**.
> - In the Email Address textbox, type the** email address** that is associated with your PBS Account (Figure 1.1). This is the email address you used when you created your PBS Account.
> - In the Password textbox, type the **password** that is associated with your PBS Account (Figure 1.2). Click** Show Password **to display the password as you type.
> - Click **Sign in with Email** (Figure 1.3).
>   - If you do not have a PBS Account, click **Create an account** to create one (Figure 1.4).

> - After you have successfully signed in, a screen stating that your login is successful displays (Figure 2).
> - After a few seconds, the screen automatically redirects to the console homepage and your login displays in the upper right side of the page.

> ## How to log out
> 
> In the upper right corner of the console, click **your name** and click **Log out**.

> ## How to delete your account
> 
> > ⚠️ **This section is for users of ****[PBS.org](http://PBS.org)**

> After you've created a PBS Account, you can delete it at any time. Deleting your account does not affect your Passport membership or any recurring donations that you have scheduled. To cancel your membership, please contact your local station. If you want to associate your Passport account with another email address, use the [Passport reset feature](https://www.pbs.org/passport/reset/).

> - A screen confirming the deletion has been successful displays (Figure 5). You are no longer able to sign in to [PBS.org](http://PBS.org) with that email address.

> > ⚠️ **Your account information has been deleted from PBS Account but your Passport membership is still active and any recurring donations you have in place will continue.**

> - Close the browser window and return to the PBS website. The PBS site might show that you are still signed in, but after clicking anything on the site you will no longer be logged in. After deleting your account, you can create a new PBS Account with a different email address or, if you've changed your mind, the email address that was just deleted.

> ## How to change your password
> 
> This section shows you how to change your PBS Account password.

> - After logging into the site, click** your name** in the upper right corner (Figure 1.1).
> - When the menu displays, click **Profile **(Figure 1.2).

> - In the New Password and Re-enter New Password textboxes, type your **new password** (Figure 4.2).
> - Click** Save Changes** (Figure 4.3).

> How to create a strong password
> 
> - Use a pass phrase that is easy for you to remember, but hard for someone to guess.
> - Avoid obvious patterns such as qwerty, abcdef, ggghhh, 123321.
> - Avoid stand-alone words, in any language, including slang or jargon, followed by a digit and\or symbol. Example: Password1$.
> - Avoid using your name, or the names of family members or pets, SSN, phone numbers, etc.
> - Avoid writing down your password, or storing your password on any system without encryption.
> - Avoid sharing your password with anyone.
> - Do not use the same password for work and personal accounts.
> - Your password must be treated as confidential information.
> 
> A password might meet all the criteria above and still be a weak password. For example, Hello2U! meets all the criteria for a strong password listed above, but is still weak because it contains a complete word. H3ll0 2 U! is a stronger alternative because it replaces some of the letters in the complete word with numbers and also includes spaces.

> > ✅ **Tips for remembering your password:**
> > ✅ 
> > ✅ - **Create an acronym** from an easy-to-remember piece of information.
> > ✅ - **Substitute numbers and symbols** for letters and words in an easy-to-remember phrase.  Example: Pick a phrase that is meaningful to you, such as *I love winter*. Using that phrase as your guide, you might use 1l0v3w1nT3r for your password.

> > ✅ :warning: **If you feel you *****must *****write down your password in order to remember it, make sure you don't label it as your password, and keep it in a safe place.**
