## Overview

> 📝 **This component requires code from the ****[Social Media Settings](https://docs.pbs.org/space/B3/4751441/Setting+Up+Your+Site#Social-Media-Settings)**** in your Site Settings.**

The Disqus component places the Disqus commenting plugin on your Bento site, enabling visitors to comment on your site's content and foster conversation. Disqus ([http://www.disqus.com](http://www.disqus.com/)) is an online commenting system that allows integration of advanced commenting features into existing sites and blogs. In addition to advanced social media features, the tool provides PBS and member stations with a unified commenting user-experience and common functionality across multiple sites.

## Example

## How to implement Disqus

- From your main Bento site dashboard, in the left navigation menu, click **Site Settings** (Figure 1).

- In the *Social Media Settings* section, click **Add Social Media Setting** (Figure 2).

- From the dropdown menu, click **Add Disqus Shortname** (Figure 3).

- In the Disqus Shortname textbox, type the name of the **Disqus site** that you created on the [Disqus website](https://disqus.com/) (Figure 4.1).
- Click **Save** (Figure 4.2).

- From the left side navigation menu, click **Pages** (Figure 5).

Click the **name of the page** to which you want to add the Disqus component (Figure 6).

- In the page settings section on the left side, scroll down and click** Advanced Settings** (Figure 7).

- Click the** toggle to the right of *****Disqus*** so that it displays ON (Figure 8).

- When the toggle displays ON, the Disqus component is activated on your page (Figure 9.1).
- Click **Save** (Figure 9.2).

> ⚠️ **The Save button for this step is different from saving the entire page in Figure 10.**

- Click **Save** to save the page and click **Preview** to view the Disqus component in a browser (Figure 10).

> ⚠️ **The Disqus component only displays when you are in Preview mode in the console.**

## Disqus on blog posts

The Disqus component must be activated in your Site Settings in order to add it to your blog posts.

- From your page tree on the left side of the page, click the** title of the blog post** on which you want to activate the Disqus component (Figure 1). The Disqus option is only available on blog posts, it is not available on blog rivers.

- Hover over the component and in the upper right side of the component, click the **blog post settings icon** (Figure 1).

- In the blog settings section on the left side of the page, scroll down and click the **toggle** to the right of *Disqus Integration* (Figure 3).

- The toggle displays *ON*, indicating that the Disqus component is active on your blog post (Figure 4.1).
- Click **Save** to save the page and click **Preview** to preview the blog post in a browser (Figure 4.2).

> ⚠️ **The Disqus component only displays when you are in Preview mode in the console.**
