If you haven't already, please make sure you read the main COVE Video Event Tracking page. The information on that page is critical to understanding the process outlined below.

(lightbulb) The information in this section reflects the current Google Analytics interface.

What is embed URLs?

Embed URLs allows you to track the URLs where your videos were watched in the COVE Viral Player. It also shows you the number of views each video got at that URL.  When a user clicks the play button on a viral player an event is recorded. That event records the view as well as the URL where the player was embedded.

There are 3 big caveats to this feature

The first caveat is important to keep in mind because it means that while this event gives you a lot more insight, it is not the complete picture. There are some URLs the system won't be able track and thus the total number of events you see in the Viral Instances category will not be the total number of video views your content received in all Viral Players. There will be videos played in Viral Players on websites for which a URL cannot be recorded. You can still see the total number of views in all Viral Players though by using the Event Category Video - Viral Player.
