Project Merlin refers to the creation of a comprehensive database of metadata (a metabase) about content from throughout the Public Television system. The Merlin database allows PBS, Stations, and Producers to easily add and manage content for promotion across all PBS properties. A Merlin-powered API will allow a variety of front-end applications to read and present the data. PBS utilizes this API to present the updated PBS.org.
Included in this effort is an administrative tool that has two primary purposes. One, to update and manage data in the MDL (metadata layer) independently of any front-end application. Two, an application that allows for the management of content displayed on PBS.org.
What kind of content can be pulled into Merlin?
