What is the URL Redirect Service (URS)?

URS is a REST API that allows web links to be protected by enforcing geo-restrictions and time-based windows.

So a link like:

http://www.pbs.org/videos/coolest-video-ever.mp4

would become:

http://urs.pbs.org/redirect/8e30e14d5eb747959c7ef18237c58eeb

And could be restricted so that only IP addresses in the US, Canada, and Romania can access it.  Furthermore, the URS link could also be restricted only to work from October 1-October 15.

Getting Started

  • Get a Key
  • Use the API to register your precious links and get back URS protected links
  • Give out the URS protected links

How to Request a Key

We are not currently giving out keys for public consumption.  If interested, please submit a support ticket.
