 I'm having problems logging in with my PBS account. What should I do?

If you are having problems logging in to the Curate console, file a ticket in our support portal. Please thoroughly explain the issues you are having so we can help you more quickly. Screenshots are also helpful.

 My station produces a national show so I need access to my station and the national content. Is this possible?

Yes. If you do not see all of the content to which you should have access, please file a support ticket

 My show is not listed. What should I do?

If you find that your show is not listed in the Curate console, please file a support ticket and detail what shows you expect to see.

 Is Curate going to eventually replace Merlin?
Curate won't necessarily replace Merlin but the entire configuration of PBS tools is being reworked to present everything in one nice tidy console. The ultimate goal is to have one console from which all tasks can be performed. In other words, instead of having one console that uploads videos and another console where metadata is assigned, there will be one main console from which all of these tasks can be executed.
 Can I preview my content in a browser?
Currently you cannot preview your content in a browser. Please don't let that stop you from adding content! Adding a preview feature is on our roadmap so stay tuned.
 Will local shows have a page on PBS.org?

Yes. You will be able to include full episodes, clips, previews, photo galleries, a description, and times and dates the show airs.

 Is any of my show page content automatically carried over from Merlin?

Show items that are carried over automatically from Merlin include:

  • Video
  • Video description
  • Funder text
  • Official website link that links to your website
  • Full episodes
  • Clips
  • Previews
This means you do not have to worry about adding these items to Curate.
 Can I use the Curate tool to upload videos?
No. You need to go to the Media Manager console to upload videos and web objects.
 Should I manage my station video portal through Curate?

No. For now, you must manage your video portal through the Media Manager console. This will change when station video portals launch on the new platform. There is no date for the launch yet.

 I created a schedule but do not see it on the main schedule screen.

If you have a schedule that is due to go live on a future date, you must go to that date to view the schedule. View dates by clicking the calendar textbox in the upper right corner of the page.

  • The current day is highlighted in blue or has a blue tickmark.
  • Each day you have content scheduled is highlighted in green. When viewing an item highlighted in green, the text in the green box turns white, letting you know which one you are currently viewing.

Any schedules in the past will appear at the top of the list while schedules in the future will appear beneath the current live schedule.

Scheduling

 How often can I change items in my collections?

You can schedule items to change as often as you like. You can schedule a homepage item to change every few seconds if you want.

 As a station, what are some of the elements I can schedule?

Stations can program:

  • One of five of the featured carousel images in the PBS.org HomePage HeroCarousel.
  • Station contact information in the PBS.org Header Station Links module.
  • Up to 15 local videos in the PBS.org Videolanding Local Videos module.
  • Up to five social media links with the PBS.org HomePage Social Media Hashtags module.
  • Up to five videos on the Shows page using the PBS.org HomePage Shows module.
 Is there a way to tell what days I have scheduled content?

Yes. Click into any collection and click the calendar textbox in the upper right corner of the page.

  • The current day is highlighted in blue or has a blue tickmark in the corner.
  • Each day you have content scheduled is highlighted in green. When viewing the items in green, the text in the green box turns white.

 I scheduled a collection but it did not automatically go live. Why?
Only collections that are scheduled for the current day and time will go live automatically. Collections that are scheduled for future dates will stay Published until the scheduled day and time arrives, then they will go live automatically.
 What happens if I choose not to program my Shows page?
If you choose not to program your Shows page, it will populate automatically with most recent shows.
 Can I delete a LIVE schedule?

No. Only schedules that are in DRAFT or PUBLISHED mode can be deleted. To remove the LIVE schedule, you must create a new schedule and make it LIVE to replace the current LIVE schedule.

 Can I use Curate to upload web objects?

No. You need to use the Media Manager console to upload videos and web objects.
